Vikings Blade has launched a new razor — The Vulcan Safety Razor. It has a luxe look, and a stylish box.

Vikings Blade is a men’s grooming company based in Australia. The company’s Chieftain model, which debuted in 2015, has become a best-seller on Amazon. The Chieftain’s design was inspired by Thor’s hammer in Norse mythology. The  new razor is a “longer, heftier and head-heavier” style, the company says.

The Controversy

The Chieftain razor was so popular there were knock-offs, made by the company’s own partner factory in China — but they were “lighter, cheaper clones that were mass-produced,” the company states. Vikings Blade persuaded the factory to issue a statement confirming the copies weren’t authentic, to avoid confusion among consumers.

The New Design

The new Vulcan Safety Razor’s design required multiple prototypes, which were created over the past six months, and then sent to a group of “wet shaving enthusiasts” for feedback, the company explains, saying that the reviews have been “spectacular.” It is shown above, along with the stylish box that turns it into a gift for the upcoming holiday season.
